Today Merita is living her dream: as an artist dedicated to her creative side and as an entrepreneur who holds all the strings of the business.

Having structure, being able to do the maths, being able to proceed in a well-planned manner despite all the creativity that is used for product development and marketing is very important to her. And this is exactly the core of their mentoring.

Merita accompanies her mentées at every stage of the process of starting a business and running a business, depending on their wishes as a single mentoring session, complete business plan creation or additional mentoring sessions that can be booked flexibly. Mentoring languages are German or English, the sessions always take place digitally as Zoom calls.

It wasn't until she was an adult that Merita learned that entrepreneurial genes run back eight generations in her family. With the exception of her mother, who briefly worked as an employee and became a housewife at an early age, all of her North German ancestors had run their own companies since 1803.

“I always had the urge, an unwavering desire for freedom, to definitely become self-employed, to realize my own ideas, to try new things in an unconventional way and to take responsibility.”

What is remarkable is that her artist business was founded by “bootstrapping”, i.e. without any outside capital.

“Artistic business ideas hardly have a lobby among banks and investors, that was clear to me from the start. So I prepared the foundation very carefully and managed to build the company without any outside funding. It was sometimes hard, especially when it came to your private lifestyle, but it was essential if you were to follow this path in an independent manner. As the world-famous boxer Muhammed Ali said: “Suffer now, and live the rest of your life as a champion!”. This is exactly how bootstrapping works, which is not yet known to many people interested in starting a business in Germany."
