Merita todayMerita today

Merita Laurél, born and based in Germany but francophile at heart, loves music and performing all life long: Six years old she began with ballet dancing, two years later piano, school and church choir. During the next years vocals became her favorite instrument.

After graduating in International Business Administration and writing her PhD thesis about live entertainment marketing she first worked as scientist/speaker but hosted next to this successfully a German TV show. Due to social responsibility, Merita also consulted and supported deprived students and young adults in finding their career path.

In 2008, she went for vocal coachings again and improved her skills with Christian Gottschalk, tenor of the Hamburg National Opera and advanced techniques for pop and jazz with Andrew Bryan, New York and Hamburg. Her dedication to movie themes took strongly place in her first live-shows as well as world's famous passionate ballads and French pop chansons. Merita sings in five languages. She performs with lots of charisma, elegance, emotion and thrill – like fireworks of musical articulateness that inspire her audience night after night.

In December 2015 she was touring international with her "DIVA" concerts powered by the global brand IberostarIn June 2016 she released her bilingual album EP with the single "You have been there / Tu était là" and in 2017 her emotional song of peace "The anchor is love / L'ancre c'est l'amour" beside a biographical e-book available in different language editions. Merita is traveling a lot Europe, North Africa and the world. Sharing her impressions, reflecting on her experiences and connecting with people from all over the world she published the e-book "The German singer and her Arab audience" and started her own lifestyle blog in 2015.  Merita founded and supports the charity project ARTISTS BEYOND BORDERS.
